A vegan cookbook for the holidays

I’m pleased to note that Friends of Animals has come out with a new edition of their first cookbook, Dining with Friends.

Nom nom nom

The updated book has a special new chapter written by Barbara Sitomer from Gone Pie Vegan Bakery, a New York bakery specializing in gluten-free desserts.  Accordingly, the chapter features gluten-free dessert recipes.  This should be a huge boost for anyone dealing with gluten intolerance but wanting to enjoy some delicious vegan desserts.  One of the recipes is already featured on the Gone Pie blog – a gluten-free tart crust.

If you act quickly this should still ship for Christmas, I think!  As the website says – Give it to a friend or family member, then invite yourself over for dinner!  And support the good work done by Friends of Animals – standing up for bears, wolves, deer, marine mammals and primate refugees, and promoting veganism all at the same time.

Sweet Utopia is packed with mouthwateringly delicious desserts that are free of eggs and dairy products. Vegans and non-vegans alike will enjoy both making and eating these yummy treats. These desserts are easy to make so beginner bakers won’t feel overwhelmed, but because the recipes are so creative, seasoned bakers will enjoy them as well. The book is full of gorgeous full color photographs of each dessert, which makes it even more irresistible!

I recently made both the Fudgy Chip Cookies and the Mocha-Almond Chippers for my coworkers, and they raved about both. I even caught two people arguing over which was better!
